THAI Announces Further Measures in Response to SARS Outbreak

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has implemented preventive measures to guard against the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
(SARS) at airports served, in provision of inflight service, and related to its ground and inflight personnel. THAI has also been closely monitoring the SARS situation in adjustments to its flight schedule, according to passenger demand.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, President of Thai Airways International, said that THAI had implemented measures to guard against the spread of the SARS virus as follows:

Protective measures for all staff in all functions:

Wear surgical mask and latex gloves every time that work is conducted on the aircraft upon flight arrival from an affected country as determined by the World Health Organization (WHO). Check-in staff providing passenger service at airports in affected countries must wear surgical masks at all times when providing service provision.
After work has been completed, staff must cleanse their hands thoroughly with clean water and disinfecting soap. Used surgical mask and latex gloves must be disposed of in a specifically designated container, labeled accordingly.

Measures used in the aircraft area:

Consideration will be made by the Technical Department to clean and/or change air filters on aircraft that have returned from countries considered affected areas. Disinfecting spray must be used on all flights returning from countries considered affected areas.

Measures related to inflight service provision:

Disinfecting spray must be used on flights departing from countries considered affected areas. Cabin crew must observe passengers for SARS symptoms related to the respiratory system, such as high fever, coughing, sneezing, and provide surgical
masks for passengers to wear. Cabin crew must separate the passenger suspected to have SARS symptoms from other passengers, or separate the passenger in a designated area, and inform the International Communicable Disease Control Office, under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, before the flight lands.

Measures related to customer service:

Check-in and boarding gate staff working at airports in Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, China – in Hong Kong, must observe passengers for SARS symptoms. If passengers are observed to have high fever, coughing, and difficulty breathing, they must provide a doctor’s letter stating they are fit to travel. If the passenger does not have a doctor’s letter, the physician on duty at the respective airport must be contacted to examine the passenger with related symptoms. If there is any doubt to the nature of the passenger’s illness, the passenger may be denied boarding.

In addition, THAI has made flight adjustments to South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Greece, according to passenger demand that has decreased on flights between 27 March – 13 April 2003, at a total of 28 flights, with THAI arranging flight transfers for passengers on other flights operated by THAI, those cancelled flights being as follows:

Bangkok – Busan – Bangkok:
- Cancellation of TG 650 and TG 651 on 27 March and on 1, 3, and 8 April 2003, totaling 8 flights.
- Cancellation of TG 654 and TG 655 on 30 March 2003, totaling 2 flights.

Bangkok – Seoul – Bangkok:
- Cancellation of TG 656 and TG 657 on 2 and 9 April 2003, totaling 4 flights.

Bangkok – Kaohsiung:
- Cancellation of TG 652 on 4, 7, and 12 April 2003, totaling 3 flights.

Kaohsiung – Bangkok:
- Cancellation of TG 653 on 5, 8, and 13 April 2003, totaling 3 flights.

Bangkok – Hong Kong – Bangkok:
- Cancellation of TG 600 and TG 601 on 2 and 9 April 2003, totaling 4 flights.

Bangkok – Athens:
- Cancellation of TG 946 and TG 947 on 3 and 10 April 2003, totaling 4 flights.

THAI has set up a Steering Committee and Working Group to consider flight adjustments, responsible for considering the effects from the crisis in Iraq and the
SARS outbreak, whereby passengers may inquire about THAI’s flight schedule by calling Tel. 0-2628-2000 and 0-2280-0060, 24 hours a day.

THAI Introduces Thailand Tourism Brochure

 Thai Airways International Public Company Limited printed brochures about  Thailand providing tourism-related information for tourists interested in traveling  to Thailand.  The brochure will be printed in various languages and made available at THAI’s Sales Offices worldwide.

 Mr. Tasnai Sudasna, THAI’s Executive Vice President for Commercial, said that THAI has published these useful brochures in an effort to further promote Thailand tourism among foreign tourists traveling to Thailand.  The brochures have been published in English, French, Arabic,Chinese,and Vietnamese, containing information about Travel-tips, Shopping in Thailand, Arts and Crafts, Tourist Destinations, Thai Food, as well as 
Spa and Health Services.  The brochures are available for the general public at THAI’s Sales Offices in 34 countries, 59 destinations worldwide.

THAI Increases Flight For Songkran Festival

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will increase its flight operations for Songkran Festival, during 11 – 16 April 2003, in order to meet the increase in demand from air travelers who wish to travel during the Festival.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President, said THAI will increase its flights on the following routes:

1. Bangkok – Phuket, v.v.: additional 2 flights per day from 13 flights on April 12, 2003; additional 1 flight on April 13, 14 and 15, 2003. Total of 5 additional flights or 3,614 seats.

2. Bangkok – Chiang Mai, v.v.: additional 1 flight per day from 11 flights on April 11, 12, 15 and 16, 2003. Total of 4 additional flights or 2,4840 seats.

3. Bangkok – Krabi, v.v.: additional 1 flight per day from 3 flights on April 12 and 15, 2003. Total of 2 additional flights or 596 seats.

THAI will closely monitor flight reservations in case of increased reservations on other routes, whereby THAI will consider increasing flights in order to meet the demand in increased passenger traffic accordingly. THAI’s Online Ticket Sales and Check-In Service Wins Award

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited  was recently awarded an Honorary Prize in the category of Public Service Projects for its automatic ticketing and check-in service. The award was presented by the National Information and Communications Technology Committee in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Prime Minister's Office, the Office of the Civil Service Commission, and the Budget Bureau.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee,THAI’s President, said, "It's an honor for THAI to have been recognized once again with the Honorary Award for Public Service for its Automatic Ticketing and Check-In System in the 2nd Government Information Technology project contest for 2003. This is yet another of THAI's services based on modern technology that increases efficiency and convenience for our passengers."

The Automatic Ticketing and Check-In System is an electronic ticketing and check-in service that is located in seven domestic airports, namely Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket, Khon Kaen, and Phitsanulok. Passengers have two options in using this service:

1. Automatic check-in service is for passengers who have reserved their flights and hold either a paper or electronic ticket. They can check-in using a credit card or Royal Orchid Plus card with a magnetic strip. After scanning the information, the machine will issue a boarding pass. In the process, passengers can also choose their preferred seat on the plane, and record their ROP membership number.

2. Electronic ticketing and check-in service is for passengers who have not yet made reservations, but wish to travel on domestic routes within the next five hours. The electronic ticketing machine will display information on destinations, flights, and other services on the screen. Passengers can make their flight arrangements and get the tickets issued, as well as issue a boarding pass and a receipt in a convenient “One Stop Service.”

The service helps save time by reducing the need for telephone reservations and visits to the ticket office, and is a 24-hour, one-stop service that provides immediate service nationwide.

THAI Maintains Normal Flight Operations to UAE and Oman

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited maintains normal flight operations  from Bangkok to Dubai and  Abu Dhabi in UAE and Muscat in Oman.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President revealed that THAI still operates normal flights to 3 destinations in the United Arab Emirates and Oman as follows :

Bangkok-Dubai
 
Flight TG 517 and TG 519 on the route Bangkok-Dubai v.v. will depart Bangkok at 17.50 hours and will arrive in Dubai at 21.50 hours (local time).  Flight TG 518 and 520 will depart from Dubai at 23.00 hours (local time) and will arrive in Bangkok at 08.10 hours the following day. THAI operates daily flights to Dubai at 7 flights per week, utilizing Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

Bangkok-Abu Dhabi

Flight TG 515 on the route Bangkok-Abu Dhabi v.v. will depart Bangkok at 17.25 hours and will arrive in Abu Dhabi at 21.25 hours (local time). Flight TG 516 will depart Abu Dhabi at 22.25 hours (local time) and will arrive in Bangkok at 07.10 hours the following day.  THAI operates 3 flights weekly to Abu Dhabi every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, utilizing Airbus A300-600 aircraft.

Bangkok-Muscat

Flight TG507 on the route Bangkok-Muscat v.v. will depart Bangkok at 17.30 hours and will arrive in Muscat at 22.55 hours (local time).  Flight TG508 will depart Muscat at 23.59 hours (local time) and will arrive in Bangkok at 10.10 hours.  THAI operates 3 flight weekly to Muscat every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday utilizing Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

THAI Selects Piling Contractor for Projects at Suvarnabhumi Airport

(20 March 2003) The open bidding processed was finalized today at the Head Office of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited for the piling in the airline's four major construction projects at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The selection process was presided over by Air Chief Marshal Narongsak Sangapong, THAI’s Executive Vice President for Special Projects.

Mr. Sangapong clarified details of the four projects, saying, "The contractors will be responsible for the piling of the following areas:  cargo and mail commercial, ground support equipment, aircraft maintenance, and operations, which constitute four of THAI's six construction projects at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The selection committee for contractors and services comprised representatives from the respective departments in charge of each project, from the finance and procurement departments, consultants and consulting companies in charge of specifications. The selected contractors will start work on the piling as of April 2003, and construction will follow the Fast Track system in order to be completed by the end of 2004, so they can be in operation by 2005 according to the government's policy."

Currently, THAI operates six major activities at Bangkok International Airport, all of which need to be transferred to Suvarnabhumi Airport. They are Customer Services, Ground Support Equipment, Aircraft Maintenance, Catering,  Cargo and Mail Commercial, and the Operations Center, all of which have been approved by the Airport Authority of Thailand for a 30-year period.

THAI Arranges Special Flight to Kuwait (No. 3)

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has arranged a special flight to assist in the evacuation of Thai citizens residing in Kuwait.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, President of Thai Airways International, said that THAI has arranged a special flight on the route Bangkok – Kuwait on 19 March 2003 to
assist in the transport of remaining Thai citizens from Kuwait back to Thailand. THAI has been working in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate the special flight in conjunction with the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuwait, which is responsible for informing Thai citizens in that area. Currently, 130 Thai people employed by S.K. Engineering and Construction Limited in Kuwait will return to Thailand on the special flight, with additional Thai passengers also anticipated to be on that flight.

Special flight TG 8110 on the route Bangkok – Kuwait will operate on 19 March 2003, departing Bangkok at 19.06 hours and arriving in Kuwait at 22.59 hours (local time), utilizing Airbus A330-300 aircraft, capable of transporting 305 passengers. Special flight TG 8111 on the route Kuwait – Bangkok will depart fromKuwait at 00.50 hours on 19 March 2003 and arrive in Bangkok at 11.25 hours the following day on 20 March 2003.

THAI Plans for Flight Operations in Case of War (No. 2)

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has arranged contingency plans in case of emergency due to the imminent war between the U.S. and Iraq, and has announced that it will temporarily suspend flight operations from Bangkok to Kuwait and Bahrain from 20 March 2003 onwards.

Mr. Tasnai Sudasna, THAI’s Executive Vice President for Commercial, said that THAI has been closely monitoring market trends and passenger reservations made on all flights and routes THAI operates to, as a result of the pending war between the U.S. and Iraq.  Mr.Sudasna stated that THAI has experienced passenger flight cancellations, for flights to be operated within the next 2 weeks, at approximately 10 percent.  However, since April is considered to be Thailand’s travel peak season due to the Songkran Festival, THAI anticipates that there will be a steady flow of passengers traveling to and from Thailand during this period.

THAI’s contingency plans include rerouting flights routed Bangkok to Europe v.v. to 5 alternative routes, to ensure maximum passenger safety in the event of war.  Currently, THAI operates to 5 destinations in the Middle East, which are:  Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat.

THAI plans to assist in the evacuation of approximately 1,200 Thai citizens residing in Kuwait to Thailand, in case of war.  In order to ensure maximum flight safety, THAI will temporarily suspend all flights to Kuwait and Bahrain as of 20 March 2003, with the last flight operating on 19 March 2003.

On 19 March 2003, the last flight to Kuwait will be TG 519 on the route Bangkok – Dubai – Kuwait departing Bangkok at 12.10 hours and arriving in Kuwait at 18.10 hours (local time).  Flight TG 520 on the route Kuwait – Dubai – Bangkok will depart from Kuwait at 19.20 hours (local time) and arrive in Bangkok at 08.10 hours the following day.  The last flight operating to Bahrain will be flight TG 515 on the route
Bangkok – Abu Dhabi – Bahrain will depart from Bangkok at 17.25 hours and arrive in Bahrain at 22.40 hours (local time).  Flight TG 516 on the route Bahrain – Bangkok will depart from Bahrain at 23.45 hours (local time) and arrive in Bangkok at 10.15 hours the following day.

As for flights to other Middle Eastern destinations, THAI has rescheduled its flight operations as follows:

- Flight TG 517 and TG 519 on the route Bangkok-Dubai v.v. will depart Bangkok at 17.50 hours and will arrive in Dubai at 21.50 hours (local time).  Flight TG 518 and 520 will depart from Dubai at 23.00 hours (local time) and will arrive in Bangkok at 08.10 hours the following day. THAI operates daily flights to Dubai at 7 flights per week, utilizing Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
- Flight TG 515 on the route Bangkok-Abu Dhabi v.v. will depart Bangkok at 17.25 hours and will arrive in Abu Dhabi at 21.25 hours (local time).  Flight TG 516 will depart Abu Dhabi at 22.25 hours (local time) and will arrive in Bangkok at 07.10 hours the following day.  THAI operates 3 flights weekly to Abu Dhabi every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, utilizing Airbus A300-600 aircraft.

THAI continues to operate flights to European destination according to its regular schedule, through 5 alternative routes as follows:

1st:  Across Black Sea to Europe
2nd:  Across Iran to Europe
3rd:  Southern route, across Persian Gulf to Europe
4th:  Northern route, across Kunming via Western China to Europe
5th:  Northern route, across Chengdu via Western China to Europe

THAI is also working in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish safe zones, those being Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the
United Arab Emirates, where Thai citizens residing in the Middle East will be evacuated.  From that safe zone, THAI will assist in transporting
Thai citizens back to Thailand.

THAI Closely Monitors SARS Situation

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited is closely monitoring the situation concerning the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), the new strain of pneumonia, and has implemented the following precautionary measures.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President, said that THAI has been taking precautions to ensure passenger safety in monitoring travelers who
might show symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), in accordance with directives put forth by the World Health Organization
(WHO), to guard against the spread of the virus strain.  According to the WHO, those who suffer from SARS will show flu-like symptoms such as
fever, muscular pain, headache, sore throat, dry cough, and difficulty breathing.   THAI is monitoring passengers traveling on flights to and from
countries declared as affected areas, those being Southern China, Hong Kong, and Hanoi, Vietnam, routes that have experienced passenger
flight cancellations.

In order to guard against the spread of SARS into Thailand, THAI has implemented  precautionary measures whereby the airline’s ground staff
will observe symptoms of passengers at the check-in counter and boarding gate at all times.  Passengers with flu-like symptoms will not be
allowed to board THAI’s flights, unless they provide a doctor’s letter stating they are well and fit to travel.  In addition, all passengers are
required to fill in medical information forms from the International Communicable Disease Control Office, under Thailand’s Ministry of Public
Health, so that travelers may be reached to inform them about spread of the virus.

In addition, THAI will provide masks to all passengers and crew traveling from countries that WHO has declared as affected areas, in
accordance to directives put forth by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health to guard against the spread of SARS to Thailand.

THAI and Kasetsart  Sign  Contract for  Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) Cooperation

17 March 2003, at 11.00 hours, Mr. Kanok  Abhiradee, President of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, signed an agreement with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viroch Impithuksa,  President of Kasetsart University to mark cooperation in the area of  Quality of Raw Agricultural Material and Products Research  through use of  Good Agricuture Practice (GAP) .  The ceremony was held at Sawasdee Room,Rak Khun Tao Fah Building, THAI’s Catering Department, Don Muang.

According to Mr. Kanok Abhiradee,  THAI has continued to place special emphasis on developing all areas of operations including products and services to achieve the airline’s vision of being “The First Choice Carrier with Touches of Thai”, especially in the field of  catering services.  “We want to develop the quality of our products in  the following areas -  taste, presentation, and quality of our created meals.  In addition to initiating new menus and  healthy dishes, THAI also stresses the importance of  quality of raw materials.  With this in mind, THAI has entered into  cooperation with  Kasetsart University  to conduct research  on the quality of  raw materials using  the Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) system.  The study aims to produce high-quality raw materials for  THAI’s catering service which in turn will benefit Thailand’s agricultural sector.    THAI will utilise the Good Agricuture Practice (GAP) system in its peomotion towards its use of local  agricultural products used in its airline catering. Kasetsart University will support and offer professional advice to THAI  and  will provide market research, used toward production outlet and  system testing, to meet standards required by  THAI Catering.

The GAP system is  beneficial towards developing food products for passengers and customer airlines,  ensuring that the Thai agricultural product  meets international standards.  Application of the GAP system will aid in generating additional income and promoting product quality before catering goods are distributed to an  international market.

THAI Makes Plans for Flight Operations in Case of War

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has arranged contingency plans for flight operations to European destinations with five alternative routes, to ensure maximum safety for all passengers in the event of war.

Five alternative routes are as follows:

1st: Across Black Sea to Europe
2nd: Across Iran to Europe
3rd: Southern route, across Persian Gulf to Europe
4th: Northern route, across Kunming via western China to Europe
5th: Northern route, across Chengdu via western China to Europe

Some of THAI’s flight operations to Middle East destinations may be temporarily suspended during hostilities, although THAI will continue its normal flight operations to other destinations which can be operated safely, while maintaining most of its flight operations to other parts of the world.

In addition, THAI also works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on plans to evacuate Thai citizen living in the Middle Eastern countries to Thailand in case of war.

THAI Supports APEC 2003, Hosted by Thailand

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited announced its support of APEC 2003, hosted by Thailand, through placement of the APEClogo on THAI’s aircraft and in the airline’s publications.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President, said that THAI is supporting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), which is being hosted by Thailand and will take place in October 2003.  THAI has placed the “APEC Thailand 2003” logo on the airline’s Boeing 747-400 aircraft,which operates to several destinations in Europe.  Through placement of the APEC 2003 logo on THAI’s aircraft, THAI effectively aids in promoting the Thai-held APEC forum to an international audience.

In addition, THAI is providing the following support of the APEC forum:
*  Inflight documentary on APEC to be shown on board THAI’s aircraft, on all international flights.
*  Promotion of APEC in THAI’s inflight magazines “Kinnaree” and “Sawasdee” and in THAI’s internal publications.
*  Promotion of the APEC logo in THAI’s other channels of communication, such as on passengers’ inflight meal boxes and on THAI’s airline ticket holders, including print and advertisement materials used in domestic and international publicity.
*  Printing of images and messages to welcome APEC participants, placed on THAI’s fleet of company vehicles, those being THAI limousines and employee buses.

As for air travel support, THAI has arranged special fare tickets for representatives from the government and private sector traveling to attend the APEC forum, such as the senior level APEC meeting in Thailand that will take place in Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, and Phuket.

It is anticipated that APEC 2003, hosted by Thailand, will successfully boost the level of support of issues beneficial to developing countries,such as free trade and investments for developed countries that are members of APEC by year 2010, in order to expand product and service markets for APEC members whose economies are currently developing – which also includes Thailand.  As well, efforts will include
developing small and medium size enterprises, economic and educational cooperations beneficial to members’ further development, boosting newly initiated negotiations with international trade organizations, and economic development that supports computer technology and moderncommunications.

Currently, 21 member countries make up the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), those being Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines,Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, Canada, Chili, Peoples’ Republic of China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico,New Zealand, PapuaNew Guinea, Peru, Russia, Taiwan, and the United States of America.

THAI Signs Agreement for Panda Research and Exhibition Project in Thailand

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, President, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, together with Mr. Montree Navikapol, Chairman, The Zoological Park Organization under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the King and Lt. Gen. Lertrat Ratanavanich, Vice Chairman, The Zoological Park Organization and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Marketing and Benefits, the Panda Research and Exhibition Project in Thailand
recently signed a joint agreement as main sponsors in support of the Panda Research and Exhibition Project Thailand.  The project logo was also officially launched at the ceremony which was held at THAI’s Head Office on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

Mr. Montree Navikakpol, Chairman, the Zoological Park Organization said the Panda Research and Exhibition Project in Thailand was establish to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 6th Cycle royal birthday on 12th August 2004. In addition,bringing pandas to Thailand will give the opportunity for Thai people to learn more about the life one of the world’s  most spectacular animalswhich is now on the verge of extinction. Only 1,000 pandas have been recorded worldwide. Under this project, two giant pandas will be transported from Wulong City, the People’s Republic of China to Thailand where they will be housed at Chiang Mai Zoo. They are expected to arrive in Thailand by September 2003.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President, said, “We are certainly very proud to be among the main sponsors of this remarkable project which in turn will help strengthen the long-established bilateral ties between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China.  Certainly, there will be a boom in the tourism industry in Thailand, especially in Chiang Mai.   We expect that both foreign and Thai visitors will visit Chiang Mai to see these wonderful creatures.  At the same time, the project works in line with the government’s policy to make Chiang Mai the northern hub of Thailand as well as a future center of tourism and aviation.

THAI will be responsible for transporting the two giant pandas between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China, from Chengdu, a city near Wulong, to Chiang Mai International Airport.  In addition, THAI offers 1 million Baht barter ticket agreement for the project’s working group to travel between now and year 2004.

In order to ensure sufficient food supplies for both pandas, THAI will be transporting  approximately 1,600 kilogram of bamboo shoots every month  from China until Thailand’s own bamboo plantation project is completed.

At the ceremony, GMM Grammy Public Company Limited also introduced its artists who will be the presenters of the Project. The official logo of the project, which was designed by Mr. Ruengwit Phutraporn, the winner of the logo design competition organized by the Zoological Park Organization, was also presented at the ceremony.

THAI Recruits New Cabin Attendants

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will recruit new male and female cabin attendants with contract of hire for 5 years.Applicants must be single females 20 –26 years of age, single males 20 – 28 years of age, males must have completed mandatory military service, Bachelor’s Degree level education, pass English language aptitude test with a TOEIC score of 600, TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS score of 5.5.

THAI’s Special Offers for Royal e-Service passengers

 Mr. Tasnai Sudasna, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Commercial said that to marked the launch of THAI’s Royal e-Service, the company
offers special services as follows :

            - Passengers who make reservations on both domestic and international
               routes via THAI’s Royal e-Booking  service within 31 May 2003 will be
               able to get 3 per cent discount on normal air fares.
            - THAI’s Royal Orchid Plus Members will earn 100 bonus miles per sector
               when using  Royal e-Check in service on domestic flights.

 The Royal e-Service is  the new evolution of air travel that allows allows greater flexibility and speedy check-in procedures for passenegrs flying with THAI.  Passengers are able to make their own reservation arrangements, flight and departure date salection, ticket and boarding pass issurance, according to passengers’ preferences.  Royal e-Service offers 3 main functions ; Royal e-Booking, Royal e-Ticket, and Royal
e-Check in.

Star Alliance Officially Welcomes New Member - Asiana Airlines

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee , President of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, recently joined in the launch event officially welcoming Asiana Airlines of South Korea into Star Alliance, the airline network for Earth.  Asiana Airlines is the 15th air carrier to
become a member of Star Alliance; its membership having taken effect on 1 March 2003.  The addition of Asiana Airlines into the alliance effectively offers passengers a more significant number of North Asian routes to the Star Alliance network, including its comprehensive domestic services and numerous routes to mainland China.

THAI Brings “A Touch of Thai” to ITB Berlin

Between 7-12 March, Thai Airways International will participate in ITB Berlin in Germany, the world’s leading trade fair for the tourism industry worldwide.  THAI will organize a promotional booth at ITB Berlin, under the theme  “A Touch of Thai,” aiming to bring Thailand’s unique culture and tradition to the world and at the same time bring the world to Thailand.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President said, “Over THAI’s 43 years in operation, we have become renown for the quality of our airline services, for combining unique Thai culture and traditions with our organizational culture. THAI has become equally well-known as an ambassador of Thai culture, in extending Thai hospitality to its customers and passengers traveling to Thailand from various parts of the world.  THAI believes
that ITB Berlin offers the airline an exceptional platform to promote ‘Thainess’ to the world, and THAI is pleased to show its presence during this industry-wide exhibition.”

Exhibitors from various aspects of the international tourism industry will participate in ITB Berlin, those being national and regional tourism organizations, tourism offices, tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, hotels, insurance companies, communication and information systems,publishing companies, and international tourism federations.

THAI’s promotional booth, based on the theme: “A Touch of Thai,” will be located on an area of 108 square meters, allowing visitors to learn more about the airline’s products and services.  A range of delicious Thai snacks and desserts will be served at THAI’s booth, such as Larb Moo Tod, Lemon Grass Jelly, Herbal Teas, Sticky Rice in Bamboo Shoots, Tod Mun Pla Krai, Lemon Grass Juice, Northeastern Thai Style
Sausage, Ginger Juice, Matoom Juice.  These Thai meals will be served in traditional Thai clay plates and in glasses from the One Tumbon One Product (OTOP) project.  THAI has also invited masseurs from the National Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine to demonstrate the art of Thai traditional massage and hot herbal therapy treatment, which is believed to help cure illnesses related to irregular blood circulation.

In addition, THAI will be celebrating its 30th anniversary of flight operations to  Frankfurt at ITB Berlin and souvenirs will be distribute to visitors to the THAI booth commemorating this special occasion.  Currently, THAI operates daily flights between Bangkok and Frankfurt and four weekly flights between Bangkok and Munich, utilizing Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
